EMMAUS

Emmaus Correspondence courses have been in Africa for many years. About 3 years ago, we moved the Emmaus courses in Swahili from the church in town, out to the maktaba in Ujiji. We thank the Lord that since the move out to the maktaba, we have seen tremendous growth!
We currently have over 250 active students, and continue to see spiritual fruit and much encouragement from this tremendous discipleship tool!

The Emmaus program consists of 35 separate Bible studies, organized by 5 groups of 7. After a student completes 7 courses in one section, he/she receives a certificate from the head office in Dodoma. The 2 students above are showing their certificates recently received.
January 2024 we began communicating with different pastors down the Lake to see if there was any interest in taking Emmaus. We discovered that they were eager to start, so we began to drive down to the villages of NYAMORE, KASEKE, MWAKIZEGA, AND ILAGALA every 3 weeks to pick up their exams and bring more Bible studies!

The road down along Lake Tanganyika is always interesting! Occasional baboons, great scenery, and usually we run into a herd of cattle. The believers are always so encouraged when we come, and we too are always encouraged at their hunger for the Word. We have over 150 students in these villages along the Lake!

On each visit to ILAGALA, because we have so many students down there, we get to have a time of singing, and also one of us shares from the Word. We thank the Lord for all of the fruit from these amazing Bible studies! They expose false doctrine, reinforce sound doctrine, and continually keep the students in their Bibles! The grading is quite a job, but Gerald and I work together to keep everything graded and organized :)
