Divide & Conquer

Divide and conquer or maybe it would be better to say "Divide and Accomplish"! That is exactly what we are doing over these few months as Jennifer has returned to the US with Katie and Elaina, while Isaac, Sam, and I are continuing here in Africa. Isaac, of course is in Kenya at RVA, but Sam and I are here in Kigoma.

Jennifer and the girls left TZ for the US the first week of February and will be there until the end of April. As she completes her clinicals and everything needed to renew her nursing license, I am continuing on in the ministries here in sort of a hybrid schedule while juggling Sam. We also will have Isaac back home in 3 weeks at the end of March for his month break! So a lot is going on in the KINLAW world as we "Divide and Accomplish" the things the Lord is leading us in.

The village church in Kizenga is going well. The kids are really growing in number as two youth from town have been helping with this ministry. We appreciate your prayers as we continue to labor among this little flock. We are praying about finishing the building soon, and hope to also build a bathroom 😬, a much needed item! (The hole was already dug by Luke and a few youth from town). The materials are mostly in place, just waiting on the Lord's timing while we focus on building up the the true

church - the believers!

The work in Ujiji and the Maktaba is going really well. This year we have seen exceptional growth in the Emmaus course ministry. In February over a ten day period, Gerald and I counted just over 70 courses that we were grading! This is such an encouragement to us because one of the challenges here is to get the believers to read their Bibles! (more of an oral culture) This is a huge victory and encouragement to see this many Emmaus courses turned in from believers in the village, in town, and in the prison!

Also, last week, Gerald's mom passed away. She was 85 years old, which is very old for Tanzanians! She was a godly woman, and lived a long, full life for the Lord. I've visited her many times and she was always praising the Lord. She was a hard worker, and would work in her garden every day until recently. It was a joy to see the community come together for the funeral and burial service.

As we "Divide and Accomplish", we are so thankful for all of your prayer and support in so many ways! As we close, here are a few miscellaneous items to mention for prayer:

  • The door-to-door work is going well, and we are trying to figure out a time to squeeze in some open air meetings while on this hybrid schedule with Sam. Praying for wisdom to navigate this different schedule until Jenn and the girls return.

  • We are continuing to trust the Lord through this land process for Camp Nuru. As we draw near to the purchase of the second plot of land, we ask for prayer for this to go through without problems as the first plot did.

  • I know Jennifer would appreciate your prayers for her time in the hospital for her clinicals. She will begin the second week of March and will work 80 hours in the hospital. Pray for her as she will face many challenges in this new environment!

  • Thank you for your prayers for our family as well as we are apart for this period of time.

Kids often stop by the Maktaba after school to get a little booklet from us. These booklets are made by Evangelism Explosion - Kids and are in Swahili! They are great for kids and have exercises, word puzzles, and a Bible story.

Thank you all for your prayers and support for the work here in Ujiji and Kigoma :-)
