Valuable Souls

Jesus said,

"What shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world, but loses his own soul?"

The human soul is valuable because it is eternal! Jesus is the Only One who can save lost souls. There is no other, everything else is some kind of religious system that in the end leaves a person just as lost as they were when they began. Not all will come, but what a joy to be carrying the Gospel that saves the soul to a lost world! God is calling and working to reach people because souls are valuable - eternal! A great reminder for all who are laboring in the harvest fields.

We are now working in two areas in the Kigoma Region; Ujiji and Kizenga. In January we started fellowshipping at a small village church in Kizenga that needed help, and we are continuing on in Ujiji as well (both places are predominately Muslim). The first part of my week is in Ujiji, primarily in the maktaba. The Gospel films are shown each day, and the Emmaus courses are continuing to draw new students. Here are a few who have recently received certificates of completion.

We continue to have various ones come in for the reading glasses. This is another way to give the Scriptures and the Gospel to those who wouldn't normally come in. These glasses give others who are curious or interested to come but are afraid, a non-religious reason to come.

Monday afternoon we go house to house with the Gospel in Ujiji, and Wednesday is the day we teach the Bible in the two schools nearby. June and December the schools are closed here, so we will resume in July. We press on here in Ujiji, a difficult place to work no doubt, but the Lord is working!

Thursdays we head out to Kizenga for house to house visitation. There are about 6-7 of us that go each week, and once we arrive, we always have a short word and prayer together before splitting into 2 teams. This past week WE were visited by a group of ladies (above)! We shared God's love with them and gave each of them Gideon New Testaments. One of my TZ friends buys soap powder to give out at each house we visit which is such a blessing!

We had the privilege of leading this young lady to the Lord Jesus last week! She had never heard the Gospel clearly explained and thought Christianity was just another religion. She put her faith in the Lord (above).

Although there are many Muslims by name in Kizenga, there are few true Muslims as most practice ancestor worship (praying to their ancestors and offering gifts). The little round house w/the metal roof in the picture above is where they believe they can talk/pray with their ancestors. This belief is everywhere, especially in Ujiji and Kizenga where we are working. We were able to explain the Gospel to this family and hopefully they will consider the truth they heard. (Below)

Friday is often a combination of a work/clean up day and then in the afternoon we have our NURU KIDS CLUB! Last week we repaired our tarp shelter which keeps us in the shade on Sundays! We hope to get the building rebuilt during this dry season.

We also built a sitting area under a large Mango tree for the kids. They are eager to help with clean up and love their new area for their meetings! Below is the first NURU KIDS CLUB in their new area :)

Sunday is no different, as lots of kids come for their Sunday School class led by Pagi. Pagi has been a blessing in many ways, but especially with the kids work! He is so fun , energetic, and turns everything into a song :) Below is a picture of this past Sunday.

Here are a few pictures of Sundays in Kizenga :) We have really enjoyed coming out here and just love the children (especially Jennifer!).

A lot going on out here on the back side of Tanzania! The days are full with so much opportunity. So many are lost and every soul is valuable to God! Thank you for your prayers and support of the work out here :)

Prayer Requests:

Please pray for a team coming out in September for a few weeks to help in various ways, and all of their preparations and logistics.

Please pray for an upcoming meeting with a person in the land office regarding a property purchased for the camp. Please pray for the Lord's favor and protection.

Please pray for Jennifer as she goes through the process of getting her TZ nursing license. One challenge we have is getting a NIDA number through the government here. It is a type of identification for all citizens, and is required for her TZ nursing license.
